Reservations

Thanks for choosing to dine with us! Here’s the lowdown on how reservations work around here:

🐟Lent In The Tent - Heated Tent for 250 Guests!

We're bringing back our heated beer garden tent for 2026. From Ash Wednesday until Mid-May, enjoy beautiful weather for a Friday Fish Fry, or Endless Summer Saturdays with Live Music in the Beer Garden!

🍻Our Friday Fish Fry is one of our busiest traditions, so our full German menu is limited on Fridays. You’ll still plenty of options like Fish Fry classics, gourmet Loaded Brats, and our German appetizers, but dishes like Boneless Duck, Pork Shanks, Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Goulash are served on other days.

Thank you for your understanding — and we’re sorry for any inconvenience.

🍻 Walk-Ins Always Welcome – No reservation? No worries. We always leave room for walk-ins and bar seating.

MAY 20 - Lost Works Of Peter Gries!

The Lost Works of Peter Gries at Kegel’s Inn

A One Night Art Exhibition & Networking Event in Milwaukee

Step into a story nearly lost to time.

For decades, guests at Kegel's Inn admired the historic landscape murals that quietly lined the walls of the nearly 100-year-old German restaurant. Few knew the name behind them. Even fewer knew there was more.

Now, for the first time ever, a hidden collection of original paintings by muralist Peter Gries will be publicly displayed during a special one-night exhibition and chamber networking event hosted in partnership with the West Allis and Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce.

Recently discovered by Gries’ great-grandson in a closet in Winona, Minnesota, these long-forgotten works reveal the depth of an artist whose story became woven into Milwaukee history. Peter Gries was more than a muralist. He was an immigrant artist finding his place in America, sponsored for citizenship in the 1930s by the Kegel family during the early years of Kegel’s Inn.

Guests will enjoy:

A rare art exhibition featuring newly discovered original works

Austrian Wine and imported cheese pairings

Networking with Milwaukee-area business professionals

Historic storytelling surrounding Kegel’s Inn and the Gries collection

An intimate evening inside one of Milwaukee’s most iconic historic restaurants

Whether you’re passionate about Milwaukee history, Wisconsin art, historic architecture, hidden stories, or unique networking events, this exhibition offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a forgotten chapter of local cultural history.
